YAWNNNNNN! A team with 2 winning seasons in the last TWENTY YEARS goes from a dying conference to a conference on life support, and we are supposed to care why?!?! Let’s be honest, excitement around Conference Realignment is sooooooo 2012. If chip Kelly has his way, we won’t even have conferences much longer.
Kelly, speaking with the LA Times said “Take the 64 teams in Power 5 and make that one division, take the 64 teams in Group of 5, make that another division. We play for a championship, they play for a championship and no one else gets affected.”
I gotta be honest, when Kelly first said that, my initial reaction was “yeah right, and, what, do away with rivalry games?” and then I realized THAT IS ALREADY HAPPENING in College Football’s endless quest to become the NFL.
Cheers to you, Chip Kelly! And here’s to hoping it happens sooner than later, so we can put all these conferences not named the SEC, ACC, and Big 10 out of their misery!
